We make continuous efforts to reduce our environmental impact and improve our resource efficiency. In addition to developing our own operations, we aim to guide our entire value chain toward a more positive impact.
The environmental effects of our group arise across the full value chain—from our own activities to those of our suppliers. That’s why we believe in developing sustainable practices together with our partners. Responsible supply chain management and procurement practices have a significant impact on the environment, climate, and society. Concrete actions and results are reported annually in the sustainability statement.
Responsibility for the Environment
Protecting nature and biodiversity is a core priority for us. Our most significant environmental impacts include greenhouse gas emissions, water usage, and material consumption.
Sustainability, in this context, means using raw materials, energy, and packaging efficiently, promoting recycling, and optimizing transportation. We actively take measures to reduce our environmental impacts by using renewable energy, improving efficiency and optimising our operations.
Our focus areas — reducing carbon emissions, managing water consumption and wastewater, and improving material efficiency — define the shared aims and targets of our environmental responsibility.
We work with selected value chain partners, for example, to reduce emissions and develop regenerative farming.
REDUCING OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT
The Olvi Group aims to mitigate climate change both in its own operations and throughout its value chain. The majority of climate emissions originate from the value chain. In accordance with the transition plan for climate change mitigation, the most important tools for reducing value chain emissions are material development and packaging redesign, product portfolio development, and reducing emissions from transportation.
Emissions from the company’s own production are reduced through the use of renewable electricity and energy sources, as well as by improving energy efficiency. Read more
SUSTAINABLE WATER USE
We aim to improve our water use efficiency by optimising water use and developing washing solutions. We seek ways to increase water recycling and reuse. We also focus on efficient wastewater pre-treatment to improve wastewater quality. We aim to ensure water availability in our operating areas. Read more
PROMOTING THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY
As a manufacturing industry operator, Olvi Group uses significant amounts of raw materials and packaging materials. We reduce material use, reuse materials and recycle. We increase the use of recycled and surplus materials in packaging and raw materials and seek new ways to reuse side streams from our processes. In addition, we participate in local organisations to develop beverage packaging recycling systems. Read more
